Distillery Information
Teeling Whiskey is a small-batch Irish whiskey distillery established in Dublin, Ireland, in 2015 by brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling, whose ancestors had produced whiskey in the city over two centuries before. Prior to establishing the distillery in Dublin, the brothers had worked at the Cooley Distillery in County Louth, just north of Dublin, which had been revived by their father John Teeling in the 1980s and ’90s. By the early 2000s, the distillery had won several awards for its whiskeys and was acquired by global drinks giant Beam Suntory (then just Beam) in January 2012 for a reported €71 million. The Teelings went on to found the Great Northern Distillery (on the site of the Great Northern Brewery – the former producer of Harp lager) with other investors, while Jack and Stephen – with some stock left over from the Cooley sale – also went on to found Teeling Whiskey in Dublin in 2012, not far from where ancestor Walter Teeling had set up a distillery in 1782. The current distillery opened in 2015 with Jack Teeling as managing director and Stephen overseeing sales and marketing. Alex Chasko, from Portland, Oregon, is the company’s master distiller and blender. A range of whiskeys are produced, including the flagship Small Batch label and the Single Grain, Single Malt, Single Pot Still and Single Malt Peated whiskeys. A Vintage Reserve range goes back more than 30 years and there are numerous Limited Edition bottlings.
