Santos Dumont selection is aged in a mixture of used Pedro Ximénez, Port and bourbon casks, so expect rich, mellow fruity flavours and Omar Sharif levels of smoothness. The rum takes its name from French-born aviation pioneer Henri Dumont who moved to Brazil and made a fortune in coffee. That’s him on the label looking very dapper and smooth, though perhaps not as smooth as Omar Sharif.

Nose: Floral with honey and pineapple.
Palate: Rich with ripe plum, brown butter, and vanilla toffee.
Finish: Warm and smooth with coconut.
Distillery Information
Santos Dumont was a real person. In fact, he was a famous French-Brazilian aviation pioneer and one of the first people to develop a powered airplane a few years after the Wright Brothers made their first flight (though in Brazil some say he made it first). Named in honor of this local hero, Santos Dumont Spirits LLC is based in Delaware and they currently have one offering — Santos Dumont XO Rum.
