Manik Black tequila is an extra-anejo (extra aged), which indicates it has aged in oak for longer than 3 years. This gives the normally clear tequila a whiskey- or brandy-like color and flavor profile. The “black” in the title appears to refer to the unusually dark color of the tequila, which can be attributed to the aging or perhaps to a coloring agent or infusion. Manik tequilas are a line of tequilas meant to “celebrate the spirit of Mexico.” They are made with 100% Blue Weber agave. The back of the bottles declare “Manik” to be the ancient spirit that first transformed the agave into something potent and drinkable. The brand is imported by Jalixco, which enjoys a nice write-up in the Dallas News.

Nose: Fruity, medium oak, with light notes of cooked agave.
Palate: Sweet, fruity, citrus.
Finish: Long, medium oak and vanilla.
