Size: 750ML
Proof: 108 (54%ABV)
Origin: United States
Distillery: Elijah Craig
This is Elijah Craig’s first-ever Barrel Proof Rye release, bottled without dilution to highlight the pure rye character and depth of its aging. It carries an age statement of 12 years and 3 months, which is unusually long for rye in many portfolios. The rye is rich, bold, and balanced — spicy but not overwhelmingly so, with fruit, baking spice, and sweet undertones. Because it’s uncut, every drop retains the full intensity intended by its makers.
Elijah Craig | Batch A925 | Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Baking spices (cinnamon, clove), molasses sweetness, stewed fruit, a touch of gingerbread and deeper cereal tones.
Palate: Complex and well-balanced — flavors of stewed fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, rye spice; underlying sweetness and subtle oak support.
Finish: Long and warm, with lingering rye spice, butterscotch notes, and a spicy, warming tail.
Distillery Information
Elijah Craig is a well-known brand under the Heaven Hill umbrella, produced in Kentucky. The brand has long been celebrated for its bourbon expressions, but this release marks a major expansion into barrel proof rye. Heaven Hill uses a batching naming scheme (letter = release order, month, year) so this “A925” tells us it’s their first rye batch in September 2025. The distillery has emphasized that each bottle is unique — the proof varies per batch, and the age is tied to the youngest barrel in the batch. This rye joins the broader Elijah Craig portfolio, which includes bourbon, “small batch” lines, and barrel proof offerings. With this cask strength rye, they’re tapping into rye’s rising popularity while leaning on their experience with high-proof bourbon releases.
