Dunville’s 10-Year-Old PX Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Vibrant apricots, grapefruit, and toasted almonds lead into fresh green cooking apples, evolving to apple tatin, lightly spiced calvados caramel crème, and a dark fruit compote.
Palate: A delightful medley of freshly picked green apples, fruit sorbet, and soft orchard fruits transitions to raisins, figs, and stewed dates influenced by the PX sherry casks. Sweet malt, light marzipan sponge cake, and a candied orange grace note complete the experience.
Finish: Clean malt interwoven with vanilla panna cotta, dried tropical fruits, clove, oak spice, and a lingering touch of PX sherry.
Distillery Information
Founded in 1808 and originally produced at the Royal Irish Distilleries in Belfast, Dunville’s was among the world’s most famous whiskey brands until the distillery fell silent in 1936. For almost 80 long years, the only place to buy a bottle of Dunville’s was at auction. Even that was a rare find.
