Don Papa Rum was first created in 2012 and made it to the UK two years later. Distilled in small batches from sugar cane grown on the Philippines island of Negros and aged in American oak for 7 years. This is packed with vanilla flavors and a hint of spice.
Don Papa Small Batch Rum Tasting Notes
Nose: Light and fruity.
Palate: Smooth and delicate. Vanilla, oak, honey with notes of candied fruits throughout.
Finish: Rich.
Distillery information
Don Papa was founded by then Rémy Cointreau executive Stephen Carroll. During a trip to Bacolod, Carroll heard stories of the area having the finest sugar cane in the world. Until that time, rum from the country had been distilled in other areas of the Philippines. He founded the Bleeding Heart Rum Company to manufacture the rum in Negros which is considered the sugarcane capital of the country.
