Distillery: Two James Spirits, LLC
Two James Rye Dog whiskey is made from a base of 100% rye (the “Pennsylvania style” grain bill) with the grain sourced from their home state of Michigan. It is un-aged and so clear as water in the bottle–and then bottled at a significant 101 proof. It will differ from the great majority of “moonshine” on the market in that most moonshine is traditionally made from corn.
Two James Rye Dog White Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Clean with nearly no burn, which is surprising for a 101-proof unaged whiskey.
Palate: Notes of earthy cereal grains on the nose with subtle notes of juniper and citrus. Citrus carries over into the palate with hints of cacao nibs and lemongrass.
Finish: Clean and refreshing.
Distillery Information
Two James Spirits is located in Detroit, Michigan and regards itself as the first legal distillery in Detroit since Prohibition. It was founded by Detroit natives David Landrum and Peter Bailey. The name of the distillery comes from James Bailey and James Landrum (we guess ancestors of the founders).
