Royal Salute is an admired, luxury-brand of scotch whisky, founded as a tribute to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It is produced in Speyside, Scotland, by the Chivas Brothers at the Strathisla Distillery which is one of the oldest operating distilleries in the world. Royal Salute is unique in that the youngest expression from the label is aged for a minimum of 21 years, creating a smooth and opulent whisky. The title is derived from the traditional 21-gun salute, which is recognized around the world as the highest military honor to receive. The brand has a wide collection of whiskies with differing blends, ages, production techniques, and selections produced as tributes to various occasions. For example, the Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish utilizes sherry casks sourced from Spain for the aging process whilst the Chinese New Year Special Edition is released each year to mark the occasion, blended with the Chinese palate in mind. The Classic Blends is the flagship collection from the company, consisting of three whiskies: the Signature Blend, the Malts Blend and the Lost Blend. The Signature Blend was the first to be released by the company in 1953. It has evolved as the stalwart whisky due to its popularity and the fact that it has remained unchanged for almost 70 years.
