In contrast to the more commonly used rye whiskey, Oppidan Malted Rye Whiskey is a straight rye whiskey that is made from a mash that is a blend of corn, rye, and malted rye. A blend of hops and peat malt is added to the fermentation process, which is what gives the whiskey its distinctive taste. It is aged in new charred oak barrels for a minimum of two years. The whiskey is smooth and slightly sweet with hints of vanilla and rye spices. It is best served neat or on the rocks.

Nose: Nose is complex yet not overwhelming.
Palate: A splendid taste with a warm feel to it. Not to smoky but silky smooth.
Finish: The finish is surprisingly long and warming.
