This delicious Canadian rye was one of a lot of barrels that came in old, weathered casks and had turned gray and silver, thus the nickname. Brown sugar, sweet cinnamon, a bit of mint and a faint floral note on the nose. Tropical fruits explode on the palate with banana and pineapple tempered by a gentle dose of spice, all laid over vanilla cream and barrel toast. The finish turns back towards rye with cinnamon, pepper, herbal mint and red berries. A phenomenally complex rye that doesn’t drink nearly as hot as it’s 131.84 proof might suggest.
