Tequila Revolucion prides themselves in selecting 7-9 year Blue Weber Agave and baking the pinas in traditional brick ovens. The resulting liquid is fermented and then given a double-distillation process. The bottle has two interesting features: first, an engraving of two pistols; second, 45ml markers on the bottle so that pouring can be precisely measured. (This latter is a bit baffling to us–how do you use the markers while pouring?) According to the write-up in The Tasting Panel Magazine (May 2012), the brand was founded by Juan Carlos Arav Fortique in 1995 based upon the “best raw ingredients” for a product that would “rebel against the ordinary.”Tequila Revolucion Silver 100 Proof is a higher-proof version of their un-aged silver. It is rested for 6 months in ceramic in a special technique to help improve the flavor. It is bottled without any blend with water, which is the reason for the higher proof, and they say this leads to a very authentic taste designed for the “demanding tequila expert.” They suggest serving in martini-style cocktails featuring tequila.
Revolucion 100 Proof Silver Tequila Tasting Notes
Nose: The aroma is agave, citrus, and vanilla with a floral backing.
Palate: The sweet agave and floral entry builds to a vanilla and citrus peak. The fade is smooth with very little heat.
Finish: It finishes semi dry with citrus flavor that leaves an oily feel, a gentle sting, and light bitter taste.
