This is quite a remarkable creation from Clase Azul Tequila. The brand took its Tequila Plata and then blended that with a reposado Tequila it had matured in French oak casks as well as an Extra Añejo aged in American whiskey casks and finished in sherry casks. A trio of tasty Tequilas with creative cask choices married magnificently.
Clase Azul Gold | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Agave syrup, green apple, orange peel, fresh fig, raisins, light note of almond and walnut.
Palate: Toasted wood, fig, green olive, ginger, cocoa / dark chocolate.
Finish: Soft amber with golden sparkles.
Distillery Information
Mexican founder Arturo Lomeli launched Clase Azul in 1997, and the label has come a long way since the original sombrero packaging it was originally bestowed with. Now, the Tequila is presented in recognisable hand-sculpted, hand-painted ceramic decanters. This may have something to do with the fact that Lomeli went and got a Master’s Degree in Marketing in 2000, as well as studying to become a Master Distiller.
