Each year, the Sazerac Company, which owns Buffalo Trace, releases a collection of bourbon and rye known as the Antique Collection, which is highly coveted by whiskey aficionados. However, the barrels can only be used once to make the whiskey, so why not age tequila in it? This añejo was aged 22 months in barrels that once held George T. Stagg bourbon.

Expresiones del Corazon were created through the partnership of three men. Tequila expert David Grapshi brought together his dream team to create the world’s first tequila barrel expressions: Master Distiller Miguel Cedeno Cruz, whose lifetime career has been agave cultivation, distillation and tequila production, and Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley, who has two decades of experience crafting bourbon and barrel selection. Together the trio sourced the perfect Los Altos agave, and acquired the perfect barrels from George T Stagg, Old Rip Van Winkle, Buffalo Trace and Sazerac Rye.

Nose: A fruity and herbal nose.
Palate: The final result is balanced notes of cinnamon, chocolate, green apple.
Finish: A sweet and long finish.
Distillery Information
In May 2010, expert jimadors from the Corazon Distillery began harvesting agave from the rolling hillsides of Arandas, which is situated in the Jalisco region of Mexico. Rather than clear-cutting the fields from the outset, the jimadors employed scientific tools in order to analyze the precise sugar content of the 80 tons of agave plants in Arandas.
