A popular whiskey among fur trappers, traders and Native Americans, it was sold in the Southwest until Turley was killed in 1847 during the Taos Pueblo Revolt. John David Albert worked at Turley’s distillery and was one of a handful of men who held off the siege at Turley’s Mill during the revolt. Albert was one of only two survivors. Some 160 years later, the name has been resurrected by KGB Spirits as their flagship product from Los Luceros Destilaría. The initial offering of two barrels, sold exclusively in Santa Fe and Taos, was embraced by connoisseurs of both whiskey and history. Taos Lightning is made from 95% rye aged in new charred American Oak. Taos Lightning has the qualities of a fine Islay scotch, subtle and refined with a long, smooth finish.

MGP of Indiana (Midwest Grain Products of Indiana) is a distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, producing spirits for private label sale. These are sold under about 50 different brand names by various bottling companies, with a recent addition of their own products, Till Vodka, George Remus Bourbon, and Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey. The facility’s largest customer is the London-based multinational beverage giant Diageo.
